Exercice pour comprendre une idée concrète

Je fais plusieurs lectures (dont l’excellent Made to Stick) pour m’aider à rafiner mes idées de projets et surtout pour les rendre concrètes, i.e. que monsieur et madame ToutLeMonde arrivent à comprendre. Parce que comme je l’ai déjà dis, je suis affligé du Curse of Knowledge. Ainsi, dans un repas de famille, je suis le seul à me comprendre parce que j’ai oublié ce que c’était de ne pas connaître le Web entre autres.
Ceci étant dit, dans le but de comprendre comment rendre une idée concrète, i.e. tangible comme une « orange » par opposition à la « politique », je suis tombé sur un test assez intéressant.
Ce test démontre que la mémoire fonctionne différemment pour différents souvenirs. Lisez les phrases suivantes (je les ai laissé en anglais pour ne pas nuire au sens). Lisez les lentement. Si ça fonctionne comme prévu, vous verrez que le feeling est différent d’une phrase à l’autre.

Normalement, vous devriez avoir senti une différence dans l’activité mentale liée à ces phrases. La capitale du Kansas est très abstraite à moins d’y vivre. Au contraire, en voyant « Hey Jude », on fredonne l’air de la chanson dans notre tête (qui ne connaît pas Hey Jude?).
Que dire de Mona Lisa? L’image du sourire nous vient rapidement à l’esprit. Quant à la maison de notre jeunesse, plusieurs souvenirs peuvent survenir : Des sons, des images, des senteurs, etc.
Pour ce qui est de la vérité, on sait ce qu’est la vérité, mais sa définition? Ce n’est pas aussi facile que de se souvenir de Mona Lisa. Il faut chercher pour sortir des bouts de mémoire et construire une définition. Quand au melon d’eau, on a tout de suite l’image qui nous vient en tête, mais la définition? C’est abstrait. C’est vert et ligné et un intérieur rouge. Cette définition peut aussi bien s’appliquer à une automobile…
Pour faire le lien avec une idée de projet, il faut se demander ce qu’évoque la lecture de cette idée. Un truc vague et abstrait qui peut être défini de plusieurs façons ou bien un truc simple, clair et précis comme « manger une orange ».
Par exemple, lorsque Boeing à débuté le design du 727, l’objectif du projet était clair comme de l’eau de source : Le 727 doit être un avion de 131 passagers qui vole sans escale de Miami à New-York et doit atterrir sur la piste 4-22 de La Guardia (C’est la plus petite piste, moins d’un mile). Maintenant, tout le monde sait où s’aligner pour réaliser le projet. Ça aurait été différent si l’objectif avait été « Construire le meilleur avion civil au monde ».
Bref, avoir une idée c’est bien. Mais avoir une idée concrète que les gens pigent, c’est mieux. Du moins, ça sera plus facile quand viendra le temps de mettre le tout en marché.

C’est comme la même histoire qui m’arrive lorsque quelqu’un vient me parler d’électronique, je viens immédiatement avec des ? dans les yeux.
Néanmoins, je pense que ton billet illustre bien la problématique et qu’il faut savoir clarifier ces idées au maximum avant de débuter un projet. C’est la base de tout non?!
